Recently EWB-UTSA applied for a grant, UTSA Family Fund, in hopes that the Family Association and Parent Council would support our project in Viña Vieja, Peru with a fund of 500. It turns out that they were very supportive of our project!

This is a fairly new grant opportunity - so If you have a project that you or a group is working on and may need some support, apply for this UTSA Family Fund. Should be coming back around in February.

Recently a team of three students and one professor returned to good ole UTSA from an Assessment trip in Viña Vieja, Peru.  This assessment trip was very successful in gaining crucial information for the planning of a water system and letting the community know that we are here to help them with what they need.  It was a trip that was eight days long with 6 of those days being in the community.  Since the return of the trip there has been great progress in the design of the water system since the plan of EWB-UTSA is to have an Implementation trip either at the end of the summer, August, or the end of the year, December.

Wanted to thank everyone that attended and participated in the Chaskis run event on March 3 that Texas Partners of the Americas put on.  The people that paid for the race through EWB-UTSA, thank you for your support and donations.  Pictures from the event are up on the website at http://www.ewb-utsa.org/pictures1.html.

Also, this past Tuesday on March 6th, EWB-UTSA hosted a successful on campus barbeque! Thanks to everyone that was able to go out and help with the fundraising... also, thanks to the people that supported us and bought some of the great food!

Coming up this Spring Break, a few members will be traveling to Peru to conduct an assessment trip with the community and gather the needed information to bring Viña Vieja a reliable and sustainable source of water! First off, we have a fundraiser at Chili's off I-10 and De Zavala. Just bring a coupon with you and 10% of your bill gets donated to us at EWB-UTSA for our project in Vina Vieja, Peru.
Next, the annual Chaskis run hosted by Texas Partners of the Americas is coming up on March 5th. All proceeds go to Vina Vieja, Peru also.

We are still working on design of a pump and distribution system for the community. A lot of great news going on for EWB-UTSA. We will be giving a presentation at the Texas Partners of the Americas annual meeting on Oct 9th. We will also be giving a presentation to the advisory board council for the college of engineering at UTSA on Oct 12th. We are excited about these oppurtunities.
